When Cindy is in The Regal Beagle with her latest boyfriend Doug Cooper, a fashion photographer, the two have a falling out over his constant criticisms of her appearance, I.E., the way she makes her hair, her makeup, his insistence on her using the facial cream that he has his models use, and the like; after she tells him to buzz off, he leaves, only for Kelly, who was overhearing their arguing while busing a table.
Kelly says that she had a similar problem with her old boyfriend; when asked by Cindy "Did he get you upset?", Kelly answers "He got me pregnant!" Kelly then asks if Cindy knew anyone that could lend her some maternity clothes; when she says that she would call around to some friends and see, Cindy, who is overheard talking on the phone by Janet and Jack to that friend, and then see her with maternity clothes, they mistakenly think that Cindy is pregnant with old boyfriend Doug's baby!
