Three's Company Wiki

Jack The Ripper is the fifth episode of the fourth season of Three's Company, and the 58th overall episode of series. Co-written by Gene Perret and Bill Richmond and directed by Dave Powers, it first aired 9 October 1979 on ABC.

Summary[]

Jack has been feeling walked on by Furley, Dean Travers, and the girls lately, so, at the suggestion of Janet he sees a psychologist/life coach, Dr Prescott, from whom he takes an "assertiveness training course". It works too well, and Jack becomes aggressive and unbearable, causing a dispute with Mr. Furley to become an angry shouting (more like barking) match!

Jack and Mr. Furley, who decided to take the course out of being tired of getting pushed around by his brother Bart, and getting rejected by Lana, realize they have been taking the same course, and Jack chooses to go back to his old ways, but not to let people push him around.

Trivia[]

  • Richard Kline (Larry) is credited, but does not appear.
  • King Kong (1976 film) is referenced by Dr. Prescott in conversing with Jack.

Quotes[]

  • Dr. Mark Prescott: BARK! B, be somebody. A, act like somebody. R, react like somebody. K, collect your rewards!
    Jack: Doesn't "collect" begin with a C?
Dr. Prescott: Yes, Tripper, but then that would spell "BARC".
