Jack's Double Date is the seventeenth episode of Season 7 of Three's Company, and the 145th overall episode in the series. Written by Budd Grossman and directed by Dave Powers, it first aired 1 March 1983 on ABC.
Summary[]
After going to a convention, Jack declares the only way to get ahead in the restaurant business is to work 24 hours a day with no distractions. Determined, Jack bets the girls thirty dollars he can stay away from women for a week. Furley arrives feeling very useless and depressed. To cheer him up, the girls insist Jack and Larry take Furley to singles night at the The Regal Beagle.
Furley gets lucky and meets a lovely middle-aged woman named Martha, who he asks back to his apartment for a nightcap. The only problem is, Martha is expecting a friend, Ellen, a lovely and brainy accountant, who Furley insists Jack will accompany. Jack is angry until he discovers Ellen is a beautiful girl his own age, and she and Jack quickly sneak upstairs to Jack's for some privacy. Meanwhile, back at Furley's place, Ralph gets the distraught, heartbroken Martha, who was crying over the breakup of a relationship with an ex-fiance of five years, to call and reconcile with him. When Furley goes to the roommates apartment to tell them that he got his date to reconcile with her boyfriend, exclaiming "I did it!" they misunderstand, thinking the two "went all the way," and say "Oh, Mr. Furley!"
When that misunderstanding is cleared up, and they all say how proud of him they are to see that he got two lovebirds, Martha and her fiance, back together, Ralph, thinking that he is doing Jack a favor, in, as he thinks, thinking that Jack is gay, was "a big strain on him" in dating the opposite gender, offers to take Martha's friend Ellen back home, ruining Jack's chance to score with the lovely blonde!
