Good Old Reliable Janet is the second episode of season three of Three's Company, and the thirty-third overall episode of the series. Directed by Dave Powers, it first aired 19 September 1978 on ABC.
Summary[]
Janet begins to feel like her life is lacking something due to her reliable image. The last straw comes when Larry invites her, Jack and Chrissy to brunch at a Persian restaurant, but she can't go because she has to wait for the telephone repairman to arrive. She then decides to break away from her wholesome image by joining a bunch of nudists at the beach with Mrs. Roper, who also feels neglected, especially when she finds out that Stanley has been ogling all the nude women. Unfortunately, the police arrive and break up the protest and when Jack, Chrissy, Larry and Mr. Roper find out they rush to the police station to see if they can bail Janet and Helen out of jail.
Trivia[]
The title is a line from the song "The Oldest Established (Permanent Floating Crap Game)" from Guys and Dolls: "Why it's good old reliable Nathan..."
Quotes[]
- Jack: Wait a minute, you'd go to a nude beach and get naked in front of total strangers but you wouldn't in front of me? That doesn't make any sense.
Chrissy: It makes perfect sense. See I don't know them, and they don't know me and they don't know who they're seeing, and I don't know who's seeing me. But I know you, and you know me, and you know who you're seeing, and I know who's seeing me. And both of them are me! See?
Jack: No, I don't see.
Chrissy: And you're not going to, either. - Mrs. Roper: [naked behind the flower box] Don't come over here, Stanley!
Mr. Roper: Why not? What are you got back there that I haven't seen before?
Janet: Me!
Chrissy: Janet, what are you doing back there?
Janet: Giving the azaleas a thrill! - Mr. Roper: Why didn't you go into the apartment?
Mrs. Roper: The door's locked!
Mr. Roper: Why didn't you take your key?
Mrs. Roper: [naked] Where would I keep it, Stanley?
