Aunt Martha is a character in Three's Company. She was played by veteran film, stage and television actress Irene Tedrow, who is also the mother of actress Enid Kent, who played Nurse Bigelow in M*A*S*H.
About Martha[]
She is the aunt of Mrs. Roper.
When the Ropers meet with Helen's aunt Aunt at The Regal Beagle to discuss her wedding plans (it was going to be Martha's fourth marriage), Jack happens to run into them, and then meets Martha's daughter Barbara (Claudette Nevins), who is also Helen's cousin, and a pretty, successful archaeologist that's presumably in her late 30's, which is about ten years older than Jack. The whole gang, the Ropers, Jack, Martha and Barbara decide to leave the Beagle and soak up the sun at the beach.
When Aunt Martha meets Janet and Chrissy, seeking to give Jack his sandals, which he left at the beach, the confused roommates get the story that Jack told them and Larry about "the older woman he was seeing" confused, thinking that he was dating the much older, seventy-something Martha, instead of Barbara! Anyways, Larry, in an attempt to lure the geriatric Martha away from Jack, and perhaps out concern for his best friend, Larry tries to "turn on the charm", making an advance on Martha, only to get slapped in the face! It takes the arrival of Martha's daughter Barbara, who was to meet Jack at the apartment to clear things up. Everybody laughs about the mixup, instead of the embarrassed Larry, and Mr. Roper, who thinks Larry is sick!
